Adolescent Evaluations
Adolescent or juvenile psychosexuals come in many forms based on who is requesting the evaluation, what stage of the court or treatment process the client is in, and the nature of the problematic sexual behaviors being investigated. Below are descriptions of the most commonly requested types of evaluations. The cost of the evaluation is based on the type being requested.
Pre-Trial Superior Court Evaluation
This type of evaluation happens when someone between the ages of 13 and 17 are being tried as an adult in court. These evaluations can be requested by defense attorneys, district attorneys, or the court itself.
A review of court records, treatment records, and school records is required. This review coupled with an extensive interview, collateral interviews, and psychological testing help determine risk to the community, treatment recommendations, and safety planning.
DFCS Referred
This evaluation is for those 12-18 who are under the supervision of DFCS who have concerning sexual behaviors. They include a review of provided documents, psychological testing, interview, collateral interview with guardians/caseworkers/CASA, and review of school records. Recommendations will be related to treatment, placement, and safety planning.
Post Adjudication Evaluation
This evaluation is for those 12-18 who have been adjudicated in juvenile court for a sexual offense. They include a review of court documents, psychological testing, interview, collateral interview with guardians, and review of school records. Recommendations include treatment targets, placement, safety restrictions, and community risk.
Parent/Guardian Referred
This evaluation is for those 12-18 who who are not in DFCS care or involved in the court system. This evaluation is designed to assist parents with providing safety planning and treatment options. They include a review of any treatment records, psychological testing, interview, collateral interview with guardians, and review of school records. Recommendations will be related to treatment and safety planning.
Juvenile Court/DJJ Referred
This evaluation is for those 12-18 who are awaiting a court date in juvenile court for a sexual offense. They include a review of court documents, psychological testing, interview, collateral interview with guardians, and review of school records. Recommendations include treatment targets, placement, safety restrictions, and community risk.
Post-Treatment Evaluation
This type of evaluation looks at changes after treatment has been completed. Often those requesting want to determine if additional treatment is needed or if family reunification is possible.
Evaluations will not be billed with insurance. Please include whether parents, the court, or another source will be financing the cost of the evaluation. If the court is required to finance, please include the court order in the referral.
